2018 Confirmation Class

Confirmation Class

We are excited to share that there will be a Confirmation class beginning in mid-January!

What is Confirmation, you may wonder?  It is a time when a young person makes a decision to join the church.  At the time of confirmation, the individual makes a public profession of faith, which includes confessing Jesus Christ as your Savior, putting your trust in his grace, promising to serve him as your Lord, in union with the Church which Christ has opened to people of all ages, nations, and races.  (United Methodist Book of Worship, p.88)  This is an awesome decision and precious experience.  Like Baptism, it is a time when the entire church body comes alongside the confirmand and pledges to support, nurture, and encourage the individual in their respective Christian life.

We will be using the material, "Making Disciples."  This is an "apprenticeship approach" to confirmation produced by Will Willmon.  It involves a "series of learning experiences where adult mentors and confirmands are both teachers and learners at the same time."  (Cokesbury)

If you are a youth in 6th-12th grade and would like to join the upcoming Confirmation class, please contact Susan Nyquist at "susanbjoyful247@gmail.com" or 317-356-3787.

Additionally, if you are an adult who would be interested in mentoring a youth, please get in touch with Susan about your availability.
